Why Chef & Brewer pubs are the cosiest pubs in winter

When the temperatures drop and the knitwear comes out, our cosy pubs come to life. Hear the crackle of logs in the fire, feel the warmth and care of our team as they lovingly pour out another round of tipples and taste the very best flavours of winter as you tuck into our classic, cosy pub food this winter.

What makes our pubs so cosy?

We’re glad you asked. Our pubs are full of charm and character all year round, but some special things about winter turn our country pubs into the perfect place to spend those icy mornings and cold evenings. Here at Chef & Brewer, we embrace the season and all it has to offer.

And our team are always on hand to make your visit as memorable as possible. Whether you’re a regular or popping in while you’re on holiday, our team are here to help you feel like part of the furniture.

Cosy up by the fire

When the wood-burning fire is lit, all your troubles will melt away. The smell of the fire makes our pubs feel even cosier, while the warmth is enough to chill even the most frozen fingers and ears. And on a quiet morning, the crackling sounds are comforting, calming and incredibly cosy. There’s truly no better way to warm up after a long winter’s walk than sitting back in a comfy armchair by the fire, is there?

History in every corner

Many of our pubs are homed in historic buildings with history steeped in every brick, beam and beautifully preserved detail. Take the Blue Cap, Sandiway, for example. Built in 1716 as a stop-off for coaches on their way to Manchester, Chester and even further afield, the Blue Cap is named after a famous Sandiway foxhound. With quintessential railway sleepers lining the ceilings, roaring fires and a bar well-stocked with rotating guest beers, the Blue Cap is a perfect example of what you can expect from a Chef & Brewer pub.
