And the photo opportunities are pretty spectacular, too!

The UK is home to some truly breathtaking pockets of countryside and you might even be lucky enough to have some on your doorstep. So, whether you’re a professional photographer with a fancy camera or just someone who loves relaxing in the countryside, our pubs with picturesque beer garden views provide the ideal backdrop. And the promise of a cracking pint and great food while you're at it? It doesn't get much better than this!

Why do we love beer gardens so much?

As soon as the temperature starts rising and the sun peeks out from behind the clouds, we all flock to the nearest pub beer garden. There's just something magical about sipping a refreshing pint in the open air, even if you're not the outdoorsy type. Simply put, beer gardens are designed for relaxation and catching those elusive rays while you have the chance. What's more, beer gardens are places of togetherness and conviviality, where families dine al fresco and strangers make small talk about the pleasant weather. How very British!

The Rose Revived, Oxfordshire

Nestled beside the sleepy River Thames, the Rose Revived boasts a beautiful beer garden with waterside views reminiscent of a Monet painting. Hedged by weeping willows and steeped in countryside charm, this stunning 16th-century pub is perfect for a lazy afternoon sipping your tipple of choice as the canal boats drift gently by. Ideal for photography enthusiasts, Minster Lovell Hall and Dovecote is only a brief drive away, so why not turn your trip into a historic staycation? The Rose Revived is also a hotel featuring numerous tastefully decorated guestrooms, so come the morning, you can enjoy your delicious pub breakfast with a stunning riverside backdrop.

The Hutt, Nottinghamshire

Ideal for history lovers and woodland explorers, the Hutt sits on the edge of Ravenshead, steeped in history and tall tales, not to mention photo opportunities! Explore the local woodland or take a tour around the nearby Newstead Abbey, which was once the ancestral home of Lord Byron. After you've taken in your surroundings, retire to the Hutt and enjoy the verdant scenery of the spacious beer garden while you refuel with a hearty pub meal. Be warned, though; this historic 15th-century pub may or may not be home to one or two resident ghosts!

The Old Mill, West Yorkshire

Perched on the banks of the River Calder, hedged by lush greenery, the Old Mill is the perfect country pub for a spot of peace and quiet. Whatever time of year it happens to be, the surrounding scenery is simply enchanting. With the charming market town of Brighouse in little over five minutes away, and plenty of nearby walking trails, you can spend the day exploring while you work up an appetite for some traditional pub classics like Fish & Chips or Toad in the Hole. Or if you'd prefer to sit and nurse a pint of cask ale (or even a couple of cocktails) with the sun on your face and the gentle murmur of good conversation in the background, then be our guest!

The George Inn, Bathampton

When it comes to cities with charming scenery, Bath is a top contender, and another fantastic waterside pub we couldn't miss out is the George Inn in Bathampton. Overlooking the Kennet and Avon Canal, this Grade II listed pub is the perfect mix of rustic and elegant, with a peaceful beer garden where you can sit and wish you lived on a canal boat (or maybe you do). And if that's the case, why not hop aboard a Sir John Knill boat trip while you're in the area? Alternatively, if you don't quite have your sea legs yet, you can simply take a gentle stroll along the towpath before retiring to the beer garden for a refreshing tipple or two.
