Always a warm welcome for you and your dog

We pride ourselves on a warm welcome to all visitors, and our dog-friendly pubs will make you feel right at home. Whether you’re up early to beat the midday heat, planning a relaxing lunch after a hearty stroll or looking for a drink and a bite to eat to round off a busy day, stop by and settle in.

Some of our pubs only allow dogs in pub areas, rather than dining, so it’s always worth ringing ahead to check. But they’re welcome in all of our pub beer gardens, which is perfect for those sunny days when you want to enjoy the fresh air. We can always provide a water bowl to keep your dog’s thirst quenched, plus some of our pubs have extra treats and biscuits to keep their tails wagging,

Fetching spots across the country

With dog-friendly country pubs up and down the country, you’re never far away from a trip to Chef & Brewer with your pet.

The Wheatsheaf Hotel in the quaint Surrey village of Virginia Water is a stunning pub with accommodation for an overnight stay, and plenty of walking routes on the doorstep to explore.

For a celebration of history, the Swan pub in the Basingstoke village of Sherborne St John dates back to the 17th century, and has a cosy brick-built fireplace and nearby woodland for your dog to roam.

The Dog House hotel is just a short drive from the bustling city of Oxford and is surrounded by lush greenery. Or if you’re in Barkham, head to Ye Olde Leathern Bottel, a pub with a lovely rural feel on the outskirts of Wokingham that’s perfect for a visit after a walk around Fox Hill Woods.

If you’re in the Burton area, don’t miss the Riverside in Branston. Perched on the north bank of the River Trent, this picture-perfect pub offers delightful views across the water towards Drakelow Nature Reserve.

Or if you’re in the historic Staffordshire town of Tutbury, head to the Dog & Partridge after a stroll along the River Dove and around the local castle.

Any opportunity for a perfect pub stroll

There’s nothing quite like a country walk followed by a great pub meal. In fact, at Chef & Brewer, we think the two are the perfect pairing. That’s why we’ve teamed up with AllTrails to help you plan your next pub trip and scenic stroll.

You can discover nearby routes with ease and tailor them to your preference. You can even filter by dog-friendly routes, whether you’re in the mood for a gentle ramble or a more adventurous stomp.

Fuel up with a hearty meal at Chef & Brewer before a post-pub stroll to walk it off. Or get your steps in and work up an appetite before unwinding with a delicious dish and a glass of something special. You can pop by on a Sunday and enjoy one of our roasts, complete with all the trimmings. The perfect way to round off the weekend.

Find a dog friendly location

If you're visiting one of our dog-friendly pubs, please remember the following:

  • Dogs are welcome in designated dog-friendly pubs at the manager's discretion. We apologise for any inconvenience.
  • Please make sure you and your four-legged friend are considerate of other guests... and other dogs!
  • We love wagging tails and excitable characters, but where possible we'd love for you to help keep barking to a minimum.
  • Our team are usually busy serving food and collecting glasses, so for their safety dogs should always be kept on a lead in both inside and outside seating areas.
  • We like to keep our pubs looking their best, so please keep dogs off sofas, chairs and other furniture.
