From Chianti to Cabernet Sauvignon

The beauty of our wine list is the variety it offers. We understand that not everybody likes the same sip, connoisseur or otherwise. That's why we've curated a colourful list of tipples, from rich, robust reds and fresh, fruity rosés to herbaceous whites and toast-worthy sparkling sensations. Yep, there's a glass for every occasion. Whether you're joining us for a quick after-work gathering over a nice bottle of Mount Rozier 'Beekeeper' Chenin Blanc, or you're popping the cork on a Prosecco Rosé DOC and toasting the good times, we'll have the perfect glass of wine near you ready and waiting.

Fabulous food pairings

Perhaps your go-to is a ruby pinot noir, or maybe it's a floral white served over lots of ice. Whatever your preference, the perfect bite to eat can enhance the experience tenfold. And lucky for you lot, there are plenty of wine and food pairings to discover on our Chef & Brewer menu.

Don't worry if you're not sure where to start – follow these basic principles and the next time you sit down for a delicious pub meal, your taste buds will be in for a treat:

Match and intensity - you don't want a wine or dish to overpower the other. If you're opting for something light, like our Crispy Squid starter, consider a light wine to go with it, like a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio.

Contrast richness - rich foods with lots of cream or cheese often benefit from high-acid, light-bodied wines like Sauvignon Blanc.

Match similar flavours - matching the flavours of your dish and wine creates delicious harmony. For example, earthy dishes, like our Mushroom & Ale Pie, deserve equally earthy wines, like Pinot Noir.

When in doubt, go neutral - balanced wines are a safe bet. Look for a medium-bodied sip with medium acidity and you should be good to go! Or, better yet, ask one of our lovely team members for recommendations!

Some of our favourite wines

So, we've established that we're pretty big fans of wine, so we thought it would only be fair to highlight a few of our favourite tipples. Whether you like your deep, velvety reds or your crisp, refreshing whites, there's bound to be a glass of something special on the list that takes your fancy.

White

Punto de Vista Sauvignon Blanc – Chile

A fruity little number with flavours of fresh grapefruit and lime, followed by green gooseberry and melon. This Chilean, vegan-friendly wine offers a fresh, zesty drinking experience, perfect for enjoying on its own or alongside something light, like our Whipped Goat's Cheese starter.

Journey's End Chardonnay – South Africa

Chardonnay is always a crowd-pleaser, and this South African wine is medium-bodied, smooth and creamy with vibrant tropical fruit, peach, and citrus notes, making it elegant and perfectly balanced.

Picpoul de Pinet, Mirou, France

Perfect for spring and summer evenings spent in the beer garden dining al fresco, this bright and zesty French wine pairs wonderfully with seafood dishes, such as our Grilled Sea Bass & King Prawn Risotto.

Rosé

Chapel Down English Rosé – England

A lovely local wine that tastes like summer in a glass! This English rosé is a versatile tipple made for brunch dates, leisurely lunches and beer garden catch-ups. Particularly good alongside light, seasonal dishes and even better sipped in great company.

3 Pebble Bay Zinfandel Rosé – USA

A lovely, fruit-forward rosé with bright, medium-sweet notes of strawberry, peach, and citrus. Pair a glass with something savoury and contrasting, like our succulent Glazed Pork Belly, or a sweet and tempting dessert, like our zesty Clementine Tart.

Côtes de Provence Rosé, Mireabeau Azure – France

It doesn't get much better than French rosé, and this elegant, salmon-pink tipple is a prime example. Dry and crisp with a refreshing acidity, this wine is perfect alongside cheese, so why not pair it with our Baked British Cheese grazing platter?

Red

Baron de Ley Reserva Rioja – Spain

With its bright ruby colour and intense cherry-forward flavour, this smooth, velvety Spanish Rioja is a pleasing balance of classic and modern, best enjoyed alongside grilled meats, such as our 28-Day-Aged Prime Sirloin.

Organic Shiraz, Battle of Bosworth 'Puritan' – Australia

Shiraz is often favoured for being rich and full-bodied yet marvellously drinkable – this Australian tipple is no exception. Vibrant and fruity with a silky-smooth mouthfeel, a glass of this wine would go down a treat with our classic Slow-Cooked Steak & Ale Pie.

Malbec, El Picante – Argentina

Picante by name, picante by nature – this vibrant Argentinian wine is dark and intense with subtle notes of black pepper, liquorice, and chocolate. Bold wines pair well with bold dishes, so why not pair a glass of this Malbec with one of our seasonal specials?

Sparkling

Lanson Le Black Label Champagne – France

Simply put, this premium Champagne was made for toasting. Rich yet elegant with prominent notes of lemon and white flowers and hints of honey and toasted brioche, this exceptional sparkling wine pairs beautifully with delicate dishes... and special occasions.

Prosecco DOC – Italy

A fabulous all-rounder, this elegant sparkling wine is everything you'd expect from a classic Prosecco – crisp, light, zesty and brilliantly bubbly. Great alongside fish and white meat, like our Pan Fried Chicken Breast or Duo of Chicken.
