About the Wheatsheaf – your local country pub in Burton Joyce

There’s often more to a pub than meets the eye, and that certainly rings true at the Wheatsheaf. Our humble countryside pub in Burton Joyce has far from humble beginnings. Originally the site of an Iron Age hillfort, our little patch of land once played host to the Norman nobility who established St Helen’s church.

As for the bricks and mortar, that was designed by T. Cecil Howitt, a nationally renowned pub architect from the 1930s. Today, things are a lot calmer and more relaxed. It’s more about settling in, settling down, and enjoying delicious pub food and drink, exactly as you like it, in a beautiful location. Sounds pretty perfect, doesn’t it?

Leave with a smile

Located just a few miles outside of Nottingham, Burton Joyce is the perfect place to visit if you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life while still being close enough to explore all that Nottingham has to offer.

Start your visit by taking in the beauty of the River Trent that winds through the village. It’s perfect for a relaxing stroll along the riverbanks, where you can watch the boats drift by or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

History buffs will appreciate the quaint charm of St Helen’s Church, which stands as a testament to the village’s rich past. With its beautiful architecture and serene vibe, it’s the perfect spot for a moment of contemplation. But what truly makes Burton Joyce stand out is its heartwarming sense of community, which we’re proud to be part of.
