Welcome to the
A Grade II listed 18th century former farmhouse The Old Bell pub stands on the A1081 Luton Road facing gently undulating meadows in the leafy-green town of Harpenden. Famous for its abundant greens and commons Harpenden sits between two river valleys at the foot of the Chiltern Hills an area of outstanding natural beauty. A short walk from The Old Bell is an old brick railway arch on top of which sits the Nickey Line once an old railway line linking Harpenden Hemel Hempstead and Redbourn that's now a picturesque public footpath and cycleway through some of Hertfordshire's prettiest woodland. Five miles to the north is Luton Airport while the same distance south is one of the UK's most historic cities St. Albans home to Roman remains and magnificent medieval architecture. With plenty of period charm inside including lovely open fires and exposed wooden beams The Old Bell is the perfect place in which to enjoy a traditional pub lunch. Yet with its wide range of fine cask ales and quality ales and its spacious tree-bordered beer garden this pub is also a wonderful place to stop-off for a refreshing drink if you're walking the Hertfordshire countryside.
