The Grade I listed Althorp House is perhaps best known as being both the childhood home and the final resting place of Princess Diana. While her grave isn’t accessible to the public, you can still wander around the estate’s impeccably maintained gardens during the summer months.
Occasionally, Althorp House will open its doors to the public, allowing you to explore its grand rooms, bursting with beautiful paintings, ceramics, and furnishings. If you’re pining for panoramic views and fresh country air, make a beeline for Hunsbury Hill. This historic Iron Age hillfort sits in between Milton Malsor and Northampton, and is a fantastic place to stretch your legs on a clear day.
Once you reach the hill’s summit, you’ll be greeted with sweeping vistas of the picturesque Northamptonshire countryside. The local area is also home to several intriguing heritage sites, including an old ironstone railway and a small but charming railway museum. Canal Museum
