As Of The 20th March WE ARE CLOSED

It is with great sadness we are calling last orders in all our pubs for the time being, given the escalation of the coronavirus crisis.

Thanks to our amazing team members who have been doing a great job over recent weeks in increasingly challenging circumstances.

We are looking at other ways we can support our regulars while we are closed and you can still enjoy our Greene King, Old Speckled Hen and Belhaven beers delivered to your door and these can be ordered by visiting www.greenekingshop.co.uk.

We want to wish you good health and thank you for your support now, and in the weeks and months to come. We look forward to when we can open our doors and welcome you back to our pubs again.

Welcome to the

Boot & Slipper

The stretch of road from Amersham to nearby Chesham where the Boot and Slipper is located was once a hub for the region’s thriving local boot trade. It is thought there may have even been a cobblers on the site of the pub at one time, hence its unusual name: the Boot and Slipper. The building itself has been associated with the drinks trade for several centuries, with records showing it in the hands of the local family-run brewery Wellers of Amersham in the 1700s. Today, despite its history and traditional look, plus its local reputation as one of the most haunted buildings in Buckinghamshire, this is very much a 21st-century pub, with a modern dining menu and a family-friendly vibe. The Boot and Slipper has a prime position just on the edge of the centre of Amersham, a charming market town of two halves. There is Amersham-on-the-Hill, an affluent London commuter neighbourhood that grew out from the railway station after the tracks were laid in the early 20th century. And, at the foot of the ‘hill’, there is picturesque Old Amersham, where upmarket coffee shops and boutiques sit alongside centuries-old buildings. Amersham can count some of the biggest names in British history among its historic visitors, including John Knox, Oliver Cromwell and William Penn. Historical corners of the town, of which there are many, include the 13th-century parish church of St Mary’s, a grand Grade I-listed building just a few minutes’ drive from the Boot and Slipper, and the Amersham Museum, a lovely half-timbered Tudor building that houses an award-winning collection of treasures spanning 2,000 years.
