Alveston is a quiet village high on the Ridgeway part of the ancient Western Trackway running from Alveston to Almondsbury one of a network of old roads linking Gloucester with the Roman port of Sea Mills. Surrounded by picturesque South Gloucestershire countryside and close to the wildlife havens of the Severn Estuary including the world-famous Slimbridge Wetland Centre The Ship Inn with its low beamed ceilings open fires and flagstones is the perfect retreat for a leisurely lunch.
