Surrounded by pretty thatched cottages on the brow of the hill close to Wendover Station this Grade II listed 18th century Chilterns inn is a perfect venue to combine a relaxing pub lunch and a day out in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. Wendover is a small market town dating back to the 10th century. The Shoulder of Mutton plays an important part in the legendary Coombe Hill Run as the official starting point for this annual event which takes place on the first Sunday in June. For less energetic visitors to Wendover candle-lit tables original wooden beams and roaring fires offer a warm welcome in the winter months while the attractive beer garden is popular on summer days. This delightful country pub serves delicious pub food and seasonal specials and tasty roast lunches on Sundays.
