So what makes Fever Tree so good, we hear you ask? Launched in 2005 the brand chose the name Fever Tree, as it is the colloquial name for the cinchona tree in which quinine, a key ingredient for tonic is found.
The brand sourced the highest quality quinine from the Rwanda Congo border and blended it with spring water and eight botanical flavours, including rare ingredients and crucially no artificial sweeteners preservatives or flavourings, were added. And the rest, as they say, is history…
Since the brand launched, they have gone on to create new flavours to further compliment their delicious drinks and now have an award-winning range of drinks with a string of accolades to their name. The Fever-Tree range has received widespread acclaim from drinks critics, bartenders and experts worldwide.
Did You Know: Quinine which comes from the cinchona tree and is the key ingredient for tonic has an important role in the history of malaria treatment. First discovered in the 1600s, the healing properties of “fever tree” were used to help cure the Countess of Chinchon from malaria. It wasn’t until the 1820s that the health benefits became world-renowned. Officers from the British Army in India mixed quinine with sugar and water in an attempt to ward off malaria and created the first Indian Tonic Water. The gin was added to help make the mixture more desirable and it became the go-to drink of the British Empire.
A perfect drink to discover this summer Fever Tree can be enjoyed as a refreshing soft drink on its own or pair it with one of our many gins to create a perfect G&T.
Fever Tree continues to support the fight against malaria and have worked with Malaria No More UK to fight the disease. To find out more about this charity and how you can help click here
