Spirit Pub Company's Chef & Brewer brand has been named 'Best Branded Pub Restaurant' at a national food service industry awards ceremony, recognising excellence in menu development and innovation.

Chef & Brewer, which offers a menu designed with seasonal produce in mind, complemented by a range of drinks including traditional cask ales and wines all served in a relaxing and cosy environment, beat two other finalists to be crowned with a MIDAS (Menu Innovation and Development) award at a glamorous ceremony in London.

Chef & Brewer development chef, Paul Fitzpatrick, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for Chef & Brewer and I am so proud. We aim to create original dishes, with a twist on traditional classics, using the best seasonal ingredients. This is demonstrated on our latest Spring menu which features new dishes such as our Summer Bruschetta with fresh olives, semi-dried tomatoes and creamy mozzarella to start, followed by the indulgent Hereford Beef Surf & Turf with the finest beef fillet medallions, and to finish an Eton Mess Cheesecake for those with a sweet tooth."

Paul, courtesy of category sponsor The Sauce Company, will now enjoy a five day research and insight tour of Chicago in May, taking in the world's largest food service event, the NRA Show and behind the scenes visits to leading Chicago restaurants.

The award is part of a winning streak for Spirit Pub Company after receiving the Best Pub Brand accolade for Fayre & Square and a Highly Commended in the Best Managed Pub Company category at the Publican Awards 2012.
